Personalizing a space and making a home feel like home is very important to many people. It certainly is to me. That’s why I think its necessary for everyone to beautify their spaces so they can feel comfortable. There’s nothing like walking into your home and not feeling welcome. Some things that can be done to change that cold feeling is to add warmth with colour, furniture and accessories. But what if you don’t know exactly what colour to choose or which furniture pieces and accessories to include? I’ll show you the way to get that look and feel you want.

There are plenty of reasons why anyone would hire a decorator. In my experience it’s usually because that person needs help. A lot of the time people can’t make up their mind about what they really want or they simply don’t know what they want. These are valid issues that a lot of people I help have. Having worked with clients in their own homes or with builders and contractors who flip homes, I have a clear understanding of the reasons why people need to hire a decorator. Some of their dilemmas are:

• What colour do I paint the walls, ceiling, trim and baseboard?
• What kind of flooring do I choose (wood or tile) and what stain or colour and how should it be installed (on a 45 degree angle or brick pattern or straight)?
• Which cabinet style and stain or colour should I select for the kitchen and bathrooms and what kind of counter-top and colour?
• Which back-splash tiles should I have installed and what kind of pattern or design?
• Which door hardware (doors and cabinetry) styles and colours?

 

And the list goes on and on to things that include; bathroom mirrors, faucet style, light fixtures, fireplace surround, custom cabinetry design, furniture placement, accessorizing, purchasing new furniture, re-upholstery and refinishing, draperies, linens, so on and so on. There are plenty of reasons to hire a decorator who can help you select all these things and make your home comfortable, warm and inviting to your guests but more importantly to you. And you don’t need to spend a tone of money doing any of these things. Decorators have resources to help you find great deals. So go ahead. Hire a decorator and make your dreams a reality!
